Through the following services, foreigners may apply for documental proof of their alien registration, residence in Korea, and immigration status.

Certification of legal status for alien registration

Through this service, foreigners living in Korea are able to prove that they have officially completed their alien registration.

  • Processing agency
    Competent immigration service or branch office and competent administrative agency in your city, county, or district
  • Application
    In-person application
    • Visit the competent immigration service or branch office
    Online applicationApply
    • GOV.KR (① Application submission→ ② Receipt→ ③ Processing)
  • Required documents
    • In the case of a principal applicant, a valid ID
    • In other cases, 1 copy of power of attorney, a valid ID for the delegating person, and a valid ID for the agent
  • Fee
    • In person visit application : KRW 2,000
    • Online application : Free of charge
  • Processing period
    Within 1 day (typically within 3 hours when submitted during business hours)

Certification of legal status for the declaration of residence in the Republic of Korea

Through this service, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality can prove that they have a residence in the Republic of Korea.
